More endorsements to announce!

As we get closer to the September 15th Democratic Primary, our campaign is gaining more support from organizations that recognize the potential we have to make a real difference for New Castle County.

Today, I’m excited to announce that we’ve received endorsements from New Politics and Future Dems and our campaign has earned the Gun Sense Candidate Distinction from Mom’s Demand Action!

New Politics is an organization that seeks to revitalize American democracy from local to national races by recruiting, developing, and electing leaders across the ideological and political spectrum who have committed their lives to serving their communities.

I’m really proud to have earned New Politics’ support because my entire professional career has been built on public service.

I became a journalist because I wanted to hold those in power accountable, shine a light on stories that deserved to be told, and inform my community on issues that impacted them.

I spent years in national non-profit leadership with the National Press Photographers Association, fighting for the rights of journalists and creators across the country and working with Congress to pass legislation that would protect their work.

And I spent nearly a decade as a civil servant with New Castle County working to educate the public on County programs and tell the stories of the impact good governance can have on their lives.

Future Dems endorses first-time candidates under 40 who prioritize the concerns and needs of everyday people.

Their endorsed candidates reflect the priorities of the New American Majority: women, young people, and communities of color, including Black, Latino, Asian American, Indigenous, and multiracial voices.

At 38 years-old, I would be the youngest member of the County Council.

When you consider Joe Biden was first elected to County Council at just 26 years-old, it shows just how far we’ve moved away from including young voices in our legislative process.

As a working-class husband and father who has planted roots in this community, I know we need greater representation from young families on County Council and I promise to be the voice fighting for a more affordable future for our children and families like mine.

The Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction is not an official endorsement but instead an indication to Moms Demand’s supporters, volunteers and voters across the country that a candidate advocates for gun violence prevention and will govern with gun safety in mind.

I’ve seen the damage our nation’s firearm laws have done first hand.

For nearly five years I worked the night shift at The News Journal, documenting the most violent period in Wilmington’s history when it earned the infamous nickname, “Murdertown, USA.”

I’ve been to more shooting scenes than I can count.

Families shouldn’t worry if their kids will come home from school each day, or if their loved ones will be hit by a stray bullet when a confrontation nearby becomes a shootout.

I will always support common sense firearm regulations.

Having these organizations behind me means the world, but what counts the most is the support of voters in September.

Until then, we’ll be out knocking doors to win that support too.
